Fort Collins City Council,

Please repeal Ordinance #114 on Jan. 17.

With malaise surrounding most things "government," repealing Ordinance #114 affords City Council an opportunity to do more important work than what any one ordinance might achieve − community building.

Restart the process. I've yet to meet one single person in the last two months who doesn't agree that Fort Collins needs more affordable housing. Let's make sure that we create affordable housing, not by good intentions, but with funding.

Citizens, like developers, crave predictability. The process that was designed to share information and bring citizen buy-in to Ordinance #114 was deficient. Waking up one morning and discovering that the neighborhood you live in could change dramatically, with little input, is not a predictable outcome.

There are thousands of citizens in Fort Collins ready to help craft legislation that creates affordable housing by building it, protects our neighborhoods, and allows higher density housing that works for Fort Collins.

City Council, please repeal Ordinance #114 on Jan. 17.
