Land Use Code on the City Council Agenda Today — 12/19/2023 @ 6:00 PM

The local chapter of YIMBY Action is planning to show up at today’s council meeting. We’ve had a chance to review their messaging and the short version is “You and all the other people in the city should be ignored unless you agree with the YIMBY agenda.” Indeed, their messaging is fundamentally anti-democratic and positively Orwellian.

YIMBYs accuse the people of the city of not being willing to compromise; yet they make it super clear that THEY will not compromise.

YIMBYs claim that the LUC was already on the ballot (it, of course, wasn’t) and then argue that it should not be put on the ballot.

YIMBYs claim that Council listened to public input when they brought back the second LDC without meaningful changes from the first, and then say that Council must not listen to public input.

There is a substantial risk that Council will continue to follow the national YIMBY agenda, which believes that development interests should have a prominent voice in the City of Fort Collins, and regular people should not.

You can use your voice to speak at City Council on Tuesday, 12/19/2023, and tell Council they must do what is right for the people of Fort Collins. Put the LDC on the ballot, so that there will be no question about what the voters prefer.
